With its jumping numerals display, the Lange ZEITWERK represents a leap into a new horological epoch. And it endows time with a totally new face.

“When it is dark enough, you can see the stars”. That was the cryptic quote from Ralph W. Emerson that we used as the teaser on the invitations sent out to mark the launch of A. Lange & Söhne’s ZEITWERK. About 200 jewellers and journalists from all over the world who responded soon found themselves in the Temporary Exhibition Hall in Berlin’s Palace Square. In pitch darkness.

After a meal served in complete darkness, the guests were then treated to their first glimpses of pure light – the ZEITWERK’s remarkable jumping hour and minute mechanism.

A great showcase for the presentation of a luxury mechanical timepiece that represents a major step forward in how it tells time without needing to resort to using watch hands. Not only did this event help generate a huge amount of press interest, the ZEITWERK has gone on to be one of A. Lange & Söhne’s most successful productions, both in terms of sales and awards.
