As the world becomes more mobile, the Star Alliance network recognised there was a great imperative to provide their frequent flyers with up-to-the-minute information about their services at all times. This would be best addressed with the development of an iPhone app that would be able to provide their key target audience with all the requisite information both pre, during and post travel.
Star Alliance's core audience is frequent business travellers and with the proliferation of mobile devices amongst this target group, it soon transpired that there was a real need for an app to match and
enhance their busy lifestyle. We devised an app that gives this target market all the travel information they need that's just a few finger-swipes away.
In its first week, the Star Alliance Navigator app was downloaded nearly 200,000 times. In its first two weeks of release, it reached total downloads of over 64,500, outperforming Star Alliance's targets by over 1000%. It is one of the top 100 overall apps in 35 countries; in its three biggest markets (the UK, USA and Germany), it is in the top 15 of travel apps; and is in the top three travel apps in 71 other countries.
